The demonstration that occurred at the nickel smelter owned by PT Virtue Dragon Nickel Industry (VDNI) in Morosi Subdistrict, Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi (Southeast Sulawesi) disrupted community activities.

Based on the video received by theteam @kendariinfo at the location, it was seen that hundreds of kiosks were tightly closed without any activity as usual.

As previously reported, the demonstration was motivated by the failure of an agreement between the labor union and the company regarding the request for a salary increase.

A number of workers at PT VDNI, who were never met by the company, finally got emotional. Throwing stones at one another, causing the burning of company facilities by a mass of protesters to be inevitable.

After the demonstration which ended in chaos on Monday (14/12) yesterday, the activities of the Morosi industrial area, Konawe Regency, are currently running well.

This was revealed by the Head of Public Relations of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police, Kombes Pol Ferry Walintukan to reporters, Tuesday (16/12). He ensured that there was no longer any burning or rioting in that location.

Ferry said that currently hiswas still collecting evidence, calculating the damage, and looking for people responsible for the demonstration.

"We are still collecting data related to losses, as well as what was damaged. We are also collecting evidence and looking for people who are deemed responsible for yesterday's demonstration, ”he added.

Ferry said that the demonstration did not have permission from the police.

To note, the demonstration of thousands of workers in the Konawe Industrial area yesterday ended in clashes. A number of buildings, dump trucks, heavy equipment and motorbikes were burned down by the masses. The riot started from day to night.
